The
Madrid Campus is located in the district home to most of the city's universities,
libraries and research institutes. Because the campus is centrally located
and convenient to subway and bus transportation, students can take full
advantage of the amenities offered by this major European capital, including
field trips to museums and theaters. Madrid, as the center for Spanish
culture, provides a wealth of opportunities for cultural activities including
concerts, opera, theater, cinema and sporting events. In addition, because
Madrid is situated near the geographic center of Spain, travelers have
easy access to all regions in this fascinating and historically rich country.

The
staff at Suffolk Madrid will arrange to meet you at the airport and will
escort you to your chosen accommodation. Following your arrival, you will
be given a thorough orientation to Spain beginning with an intensive 3
day Spanish language and culture orientation (as mentioned above). Students
come to the Madrid Campus from Eastern and Western Europe, Spain, Africa,
Asia and the U.S., making for a truly international and cross-cultural
setting. The Madrid Campus offers 24-hour online access to Suffolk University's
library resources in Boston, as well as maintaining a permanent collection
of books and CD-ROM resources of its own. The Madrid Campus provides computer
access and individual e-mail accounts for students.
One of the reasons that our Madrid program is so popular is the amount of excursions that are included in the program fee. During the semester you will get to see many of Spain's most popular cities. Day and weekend excursions will go to the following cities: Seville, Cordoba, Segovia, and Toledo. Frequent extra-curricular events are also offered in Madrid, such as
walking tours and museum visits. Gourmet dinners are often arranged,
and provide a good way for students to get to know one another. The
Athletics Department organizes soccer, basketball and tennis leagues
as well as ski trips. The Madrid Campus also makes arrangements for
students to use the facilities at a local gym for a moderate fee.

"While I had already studies Spanish, I really didn't "know" it until after spending four months in the CIS Suffolk Madrid program. To finally be able to understand the language is an amazing feeling. Joanna Gibney at Suffolk -Madrid in Fall 2001" |
