When you arrive in Auckland you will be met at the airport and transported to the campus. You should plan to arrive a week before classes start and during that time you will be introduced to the university through a three day practical and social orientation. Once classes begin, an optional two-day academic orientation is offered to assist you with academic related questions that might have arisen. To get the most out of your experience, we recommend that you join the Auckland University Student Association and become a member in any of the more than 120 clubs and societies that operate on and off campus.
The University of Auckland is like a small town and as such offers a number of on-campus facilities to make you feel right at home. Apart from the "normal" facilities you would expect (a world-class library, computer labs, etc.) you will also find cafes, pubs, University Recreation Center, a hair salon, bank, post office, travel agency, health center, book and computer stores, pharmacy, and a weekly campus market. To ensure your success while you are abroad, the University also offers all of its support services to you in the form of an international office, campus chaplain, student learning center, and a student health and counseling center.
